When it comes to music, there are many names in the industry who are considered legends. One of them is definitely The Rolling Stones, one of the most iconic bands of all times. When you talk about rock music, the name The Rolling Stones is bound to come up at some point. Who does not know the famous members of The Rolling Stones – Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood and Charlie Watts? Even if the band underwent several changes throughout the years, The Rolling Stones is a name that everybody recognizes. Let’s go back, though, to 1960, the year when it all began.

Rumor has it that in October 1960, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, who used to be classmates, met in the train station of their home town, Dartford. Dick Taylor joined them, and together they formed the group Little Boy Blue & The Blues Boys. Two years later, in 1962, they formed The Rolling Stones. They named the band after a song performed by Muddy Waters, called Rollina Stones Blues. The Rolling Stones had their first concert the same year, on July 12.

The members of The Rolling Stones, at that time, were Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ian Stewart, Brian Jones, Dick Taylor and Tony Chapman. The concert was held at the Marquee club from London, and it was a real success, considering that the audience loved them. So this is how it all began, and the rest is legend. As a result, it did not take long until The Rolling Stones were signed. One year later, in 1963, the record label Decca and its artistic director, Dick Row, decided to record their first single. Considering that Row was the one who rejected the Beatles, everyone knew that The Rolling Stones will make history.

And so they did. With more than 100 singles, 20 studio albums and numerous live and compilation albums, The Rolling Stones became one of the most successful bands of all times. The number of tours is not to be ignored either, and it proves that everyone wanted to see The Rolling Stones live in concert. As a result, The Rolling Stones are still active nowadays, almost 50 years after the group formation. Hopefully, The Rolling Stones will keep on delighting us for many more years to come.
